How we predict
We compared Simplified Chinese and Japanese prices of the same cards in the 30th Celebration, which came out in both languages on September 16: 23 matched cards. One pattern held:
- Chinese copies sell for about 0.45 times the Japanese price (range 0.41-0.58), across the whole set.
- It is one set pair, so treat the range as wide: the 151 Collect comparison was too unlike to use.
Examples today: Lugia (CN vs JP) $73 vs $169 · Charizard (CN vs JP) $90 vs $167 · Mew ex (CN vs JP) $30 vs $75. A guess, not a promise: early sales usually run high for the first week or two, then settle.
